GDPR
The EU regulation on personal data: lawful basis, minimal data, user rights and breach reporting, for anyone handling EU residents’ data.
The General Data Protection Regulation applies from May 25, 2018. For software it means: collect only what the feature needs, know where data lives and who processes it, let users access and delete their data, and report a breach to the authority within 72 hours of becoming aware of it, where it poses a risk. Analytics, session recordings and AI providers are all processors that need a contract.
