AI literacy (AI Act Article 4)
The AI Act duty, in force since February 2, 2025, for companies using AI to ensure their staff understand it well enough to use it.
Article 4 applies to providers and deployers, which includes any company whose staff use AI tools at work. It does not prescribe a certificate or a course length; the measures should fit people’s roles, knowledge and the context of use. In practice that means people know what the tools are good at, where they make things up, what data must not go in and who checks the output.
