CVSS (vulnerability severity score)
A 0 to 10 score of how severe a vulnerability is, from how it is exploited and what it lets an attacker do.
The Common Vulnerability Scoring System is maintained by FIRST; version 4.0 was published on November 1, 2023. Its scale: Low 0.1 to 3.9, Medium 4.0 to 6.9, High 7.0 to 8.9, Critical 9.0 to 10.0. The base score describes the bug in general; whether it matters to you depends on whether the vulnerable code is reachable in your app.

- CVE (Common Vulnerabilities and Exposures): A public catalog that gives each known security vulnerability one ID, such as CVE-2025-55182, so everyone talks about the same bug.
- RCE (remote code execution): A vulnerability that lets an attacker run their own code on your server or device over the network.
- Zero-day: A vulnerability attackers know about or exploit before the vendor has a fix, so defenders have had zero days to patch.
